A Bible Verse For Anxiety

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7, NIV)

Have you ever had moments in life when you were overwhelmed with anxious thoughts?

  • What if this job does not work out?

  • What if I get cancer?

  • What if he or she leaves me?

  • What if they don't really like me?

  • What if I am not good enough?

  • What if they see my imperfections?

  • What if I don't win the game tomorrow?

  • What if my child grows up and thinks I am a bad mother?

  • What if I fail trying this?

  • What if I don't get into the school I am applying for?

You feel as though it started with one anxious thought, and now they have piled one upon another. You feel completely paralyzed by these thoughts. Your mind is tired. Your body is exhausted. And you just want to feel free and at peace again.

The Bible encourages us to bring these thoughts to God, and He promises to give us peace that surpasses human understanding.

Philippians 4:6-7 is not a condemnation, but rather an invitation.

God is not looking down on us for our anxieties.

God is looking at us as a Father who sees our mind and heart weighed down in fears, worries, and obsessive concerns.

He invites us to talk to Him about our anxious thoughts so that He can free us from those thoughts. God promises peace in the midst of potential problems.

Can I encourage you to begin a practice of bringing your anxious thought directly to God...

01 | Talk to God about your anxious thoughts today—talking helps.

02 | Ask Him for help to keep your thoughts grounded in truth—speaking truth to "what if" scenarios helps.

03 | Ask Him for His peace in the midst of your anxieties—his peace helps.

Most of all, remember He’s inviting you into relationship with Him right in the middle of the anxiety—because He loves you, and He genuinely cares about what’s weighing you down.

There Are Better Days Ahead.

Much Love + Peace,
